Rich in mirtenyl acetate, red myrtle essential oil is traditionally recognized for its antispasmodic properties (stomachaches, spasmodic enterocolitis, etc.).
- Contains circulatory active ingredients known to help restore light legs (large varicose veins legs).
- Depurative, it is also known to ease breathing (respiratory congestion) such as bronchitis, sinusitis, wet cough.
Properties:
Venous, lymphatic and respiratory decongestant (tones the venous walls and helps improve blood circulation and relieves inflammation of the respiratory axis).
- Antiespasmodic – Antiinfective – Antiseptic
- Expectorant and mucolytic
- Cleansing – Soothing – Relaxing
- Physical and mental balance
- Adaptogen: rebalance the nervous system.
Uses:
- Skin application: dilute 1 essential drop of red myrtle with 4 drops of a vegetable oil, then apply and massage the affected area.
- For respiratory infections: dilute 1 drop of essential oil with 4 drops of vegetable oil, then apply to the back, spine, and soles of the feet.
- For tobacco cough: apply the same mixture (above) to the chest and upper back, 4 times/day until better.
- For the legs: massage this mixture into your legs working your way up towards your heart.
Inhalation:
- Moist inhalation: Dilute a few drops of red myrtle essential oil in a bowl of hot water, then inhale the vapors.
- Dry inhalation: apply a few drops on a handkerchief or handkerchief then breathe occasionally.
Cautions:
- Not recommended for pregnant women (especially during the first 3 months of pregnancy) or lactation.
- Not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
- As a general rule of thumb, always test apply your preparation to the bend of the elbow before use.
